The blast happened just before 23:00 BST on Thursday outside a house in Carlisle Square. What is believed to have been a pipe bomb exploded outside a house in Carlisle Square just before 22:50 BST on Thursday.
There are no reports of any injuries but minor damage was caused to a door. A man in his 20s, who was in the house at the time, escaped injury. Minor damage was caused to a door.
Neighbours said they heard a loud bang, and a resident two streets away in Victoria Parade said the explosion rattled his windows.
Police have not yet established a motive for the attack and have appealed for information.
