Does anyone believe Ms Jaquci Smiths feeble protestations that she knew nothing of this raid ?

I think not, it's common knoweldge her ultimate goal is to establish a police state and silence all opposition to her loony policies. That this outrage was perpetrated using anti terror legislation is all the proof I need that we are one step closer to her fascist master plan. Damian Green is simply lucky Jaqucis fascist thugs didn't kick his door down at dawn and lock him up without charge.

Do you have a sense of belonging?

Written by Chris Melville, London, United Kingdom on Mon Dec 01 13:23:21 UTC 2008. 1 recommendations.

My community? Well, I have nothing in common with my immediate neighbours.

I tend to regard my community as "the British people" - although, sadly, these days I feel like I belong less and less. And no, this isn't a typical xenophobic comment. The fact is, with mass immigration, most of the immigrants are NOT loyal to the UK, and regard it as their home. With these attitudes, how are we supposed to live side by side with them under the pretence of one nation?

I would like to think I was part of the community.

However, we recently had a "community newsletter" through the door, advertising events in our community.

There were events for:-

Disabled people
Ethnic minorities
People whose first language is not English
Single parents
People with mixed race children
Gay, transgender, and lesbian people / parents

There were NO EVENTS WHATSOEVER for people like myself; Working, white, English, heterosexual, functional family.

We don't exist

In the case of Stoke On Trent it's hardly a surprising result since they are all mostly related !

Despite New Labours attempts to destroy the community, set everyone spying against everyone else, foster fear and mistrust of potential 'terrorists', charge exhorbitant rates for simple neighbourhood services such as bin collections and parking and encourage councils to spy on, harrass and brand as terrorists myself and my neighbours I'd say we're coping as best we can.

Good old Thatcher. She'll haunt us for decades. Me and my friends will enjoy a very strong sense of community when we throw a massive party when she dies. Course, she destroyed society but what does she care - she went off to live in some gated community in Dulwich. That's aspirational isn't it?

I'm trying to restrain myself from typing something I'll regret. Let's just say that the hysteria surrounding this issue is spherical and in the plural - big time.

If an MP is suspected of breaking the law then it's the police's duty to persue the suspect. That's the beginning, middle and end of it.

I fail to see why the Tories are getting so warm over the issue. Surely they're not implying that law and order is only applicable to those not of their ilk.

Spherical and in the plural.

Will VAT cut get people shopping?

Written by Rufus McDufus, Twickenham, United Kingdom on Sun Nov 30 14:52:30 UTC 2008. 2 recommendations.

No. And before anyone makes the same mistake again, 2.5% off VAT will mean 2.1% off the price of goods.

Can we have a HYS on the arrest of Damian Green now?
