Will VAT cut get people shopping?

Written by Rufus McDufus, Twickenham, United Kingdom on Sun Nov 30 14:52:30 UTC 2008. 2 recommendations.

No. And before anyone makes the same mistake again, 2.5% off VAT will mean 2.1% off the price of goods.

How can we stop drivers from speeding?

Written by David, Liverpool on Thu Nov 20 13:45:43 UTC 2008. 2 recommendations.

We shouldn't really be concentrating on high speed here, they should concentrate on all Nissan Micra drivers who are a danger to themselves and others. Be it for driving at 15 mph in a 30 zone or at 45 in the first lane of the motorway.

Traps should be left at Nissan dealerships to check Driving Licences of all potential buyers, said license then shredded and replaced with bus pass :-)

What should be done to combat piracy?

Written by Kieran Power, Leeds, United Kingdom on Tue Nov 18 09:36:00 UTC 2008. 3 recommendations.

There's certainly nothing the Royal Navy could do. As you'll remember in 2007, they were obliged to surrender to an aggressive group of Iranian pirates because defending themselves could have upset certain groups in Britain. So forget about sending them to board a tanker, that would probably constitute an infringement on the Somali pirates' human rights and be harmful to our oh-so precious "multicultural" worldview.

What should leaders do to ease world crisis?

Written by Al, Liverpool on Sat Nov 15 10:39:00 UTC 2008. 2 recommendations.

I think the time has come for a new draft of laws to be written
and brought into force, with which, politicians will be made to be
accountable for their failures with the threat of fines, prison or
possible death, if at the end of a set period of their work, they
have not made the world a better place through their direct or
indirect action.

Do child protection policies need to be tougher?

Written by sara, london on Fri Nov 14 11:28:08 UTC 2008. 1 recommendations.

This is a good example of how parents are seen as blameless at the moment.

Social services is being held responsible for the death of this child, and while they obviously failed in their duty, it wasn't they who physically abused and killed him - it was his parents. So why is the outcry not about them? The identities of two of them are even being protected!

Breeders get enough taxpayers' money - government needs to stop treating them like gods and start demanding results.

Is racism 'blocking British Obama'?

Written by sunni purdeep, London, United Kingdom on Sun Nov 09 22:17:36 UTC 2008. 2 recommendations.

I've just seen Obama's website and he has a half sister who is, white/hawaiin and has an oriental husband. Obama seems to have alot of 'races' in his family so he represents all 'races' not just the black race. He may look black but I bet he don't feel totally black because his is far more open, friendly, well mannered and a true gentleman unlike alot of black people I''ve met. Those who are my friends tend to be abrupt towards others which I point out but I get told I don't understand.

The UK is over represented by foreigners and for one to rule the indigenious is not acceptable the indigenious peoples here did not want them here or either inviteded them into our land for them to take it over, it's Nu Labour who want it as they are then clients of Nu Labour what the indigenious people want is neither consider or taken into account, that which is forced upon people is not acceptable hence this coment, Britain belongs to the indigenions peoples not to the BBC or Nu- Labour

If the skin colour of our Prime Minister is important to any voter then they are completely ignorant of what democracy is about and what policitians are there for. The key thing in England is that our Prime Minister should be English. Hang on a minute, who let that haggis muncher into No 10, where did that English guy go?
