Will get fit schemes curb obesity in the UK?

Figures due later this week suggest that a third of men and a quarter of girls in England expected to be obese by 2010.

Health Minister Caroline Flint has been put in charge of encouraging physical activity in the population, small improvements everyday, in a lead up to the 2012 Olympics.

What would get you to be more physically active? Do you swim or run or dance or climb stairs to lose weight? Should the government take the lead?

People are naturally lazy and won't do anything if they can get away with it. If you want people to expend energy, you need to motivate them. A few suggestions:
1) "Wandering ninjas" who go around the country randomly beating people up - you can either run away from them(exercise) or learn martial arts (exercise)... your choice.
2) Nude supermodel joggers - EVERYONE will want to follow them!:o)
3) Tax public and private transport to the hilt so no-one can afford it and has to walk everywhere.

It's amazing how many people have Thyroid problems to blame their obesity on. Infact vastly more people than are recorded to have it. I generally find that obese people are lazy (hence the fat) and a lazy person is quite happy to use any excuse possible to do the least amount of anything. Thyroid issues aside (of which are only a small percentage of lardies) less in and more out equals weight loss. It's not that hard!

No, they marry other fat people (because normal people do not find them attractive) and because of their unhealthy lifestyles bring up fat kids. Then they complain about the government not building more gyms or something equally irresponsible. And demand more political correctness about "obesity". Fatness.

Although I personally keep very fit, am of a normal weight, and admit that I despise fat people, I find that this position goes against other views I have. Too much money is spent in the health service keeping people alive unnecessarily long. People are meant to die, we should come to terms with it and stop trying to prevent it. Death by heart attack is nice and quick method that the overweight can look forward to early, so come on fatties, keep eating and save the health service from the aged.

However, we cannot complain about having a nanny state AND the Government not tackling obesity at the same time. This way, we can see how an obese bloke who over indulges in his priviliged lifestyle can change and become a model citizen. Then we can all see how easy it is and follow his lead.
