Do you dread Bonfire Night?

Guy Fawkes has a lot to answer for - it’s the time of year many pet owners dread, especially as fireworks seem to have become a vehicle for anti-social behaviour.

Many local councils are enforcing firework curfews in an attempt to crack down on misuse and avoid some of the horrific injuries of the past and damage to property.

Have you experienced any anti-social behaviour involving fireworks? Will you be letting off fireworks or attending an organised display? Should there be a ban on buying fireworks? Do firework celebrations go on for too long? Have you attended other firework festivals recently? Send us your comments and experiences.

Send your firework pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk or text them to 07725 100 100 – see right hand side for terms and conditions on sending pictures. At no time should you endanger yourself or others, take any unnecessary risks or infringe any laws.

An appropriate reminder of what Guy Fawkes Night is about would be to repeat the original event, preferably with more competant plotters this time.

Did anyone else notice that yesterday's HYS on Black people and crime has vanished without trace ?

Some people posted some pretty offensive stuff , but that should not have been let through as it was fully moderated.

However, it seems a bit Soviet-style Russia to have "vanished" it without explanation. It was still there this morning. It was there for about 15hrs in total.

We could attach small CCTV cameras to each firework, so that when they go up they're able to feed the overhead images back to the Nanny State and they can judge whether it was set off 'responsibly' or not. Should be a few bureaucratic jobs in it too, to spend some more money on. All they need to do now is add a 'Firework Tax' to fund it. Perfect!

To Russ Limbaugh, are you really happy with the way the g'vt are running this country - do you read the news at all or any other HYS topics? I have no interest in politics myself, in fact, I despise it with a passion. If that makes you categorise me as 'liberal' then boo-hoo, im so upset - NOT.

With regards to my screen-name ... ITS JUST A SCREEN NAME!!!!

Anyway, fireworks rule and I can't wait to buy some and enjoy using them (responsibly) to entertain my two children tomorrow night.

A little off-topic, but Russ Limbaugh - 'liberal' isn't an insult. it's only the far to the right of Genghis Khan's scarier mother who think that way.

I'm proud to be a free thinking radical caring decent human being (i.e. a liberal) as opposed to a hate-filled head-in-sand narrow-minded bigot (i.e. a right winger).

Can anyone explain why I've been subjected to fireworks, during the day, on at least a weekly basis since I moved into my new house in August?? They seem to come from the direction of a local mosque. I have no objection to people observing their religions, but fireworks going off in the late afternoon at the height of summer???? Please people, some respect for those around you.

Maybe, but my guess is that all the anti-terror police would be too busy trying to stop people take their toothpaste onto planes and whatever else they concentrate on these days that they might not notice someone who just tries to lug a few barrels of gunpowder around.

Tarek, Caroline is acting normally. In this day and age, it's normal to blame everything on Muslims. Can't find your keys? Hear fireworks? Had a bad day? Blame the Muslims.

It's just like everyone (well - the Nazis) blaming the Jews in the 1930s.

I'd also complain if it was little old white ladies singing in the church hall!!! So please, a little less assumption from you that everyone is a racist. Many thanks.

Fireworks are biased because they do not support the war in Iraq. They should be banned as they could be used by potential terrorists to celebrate Osama bin Laden's birthday or even worse be used as a smokescreen tactic to allow large numbers of Al Qaeda supporters to gather while pretending it is a legitimate fireworks display.

The dangeers are obvious.

It's a sign of religious (and class?) prejudice to burn an effigy of a Christian who tried to blow up MPs and Lords in parliament centuries ago and not a Muslim who tried to bomb ordinary people in the tube so recently.

Why isn't this banned by the new Religious Discrimination legislation?

I think its you that is the moron. Ten times as many people are blinded through contracting toxicariasis from dog fouling than are from fireworks. If we banned dogs tomorrow we'd save the sight of so many children. It is a tragedy, yet fireworks get all the bad press.

Come on fireworks are great and we all watched Blue Peter enough to know that pets should be inside and fireworks should be kept in a tin.

I do realise though that some of the larger ones would probably take your arm off if they went off accidentally. So perhaps we should limit shop bought ones to the ones that just emit showers of sparks. After all I'm sure everyone likes a golden shower.

The reason it's anti social now is not down to yobs but because we have to put up the likes a diwali and all other foreign fireworks alien to our culture encroaching on our own traditional celebrations.

Our dogs now have to put up with weeks of fright where once they grudgingly accepted our conservative celebrations for guy Fawkes.

Ban all foreign firework celebrations. Those that don't like it can go and watch it in the country of origin.
