Have you been affected by extreme weather? How has it affected your journey to work?

Much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland has been hit by storms while Scotland has seen its first major snowfalls of 2007.

The Highways Agency says motorists should take extra care and plan their routes in advance and Network Rail brought in speed restrictions on some lines.

This comes as the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, warning of gusts of up to 70mph.

How have you been affected by the severe weather? What affect has it had on your travel plans? Send us your comments and experiences.

We've had some snow up here. Yes, no doubt all the GCCers will be on here claiming it's the result of global warming.

Hahaha don't worry people will be blaming immigrants/liberals & Muslims soon.
Of course these same people dismiss the fact there is a hole in the Ozone layer and dismiss the fact that climate change may have something to do with human activity since we invented various machines! LOL
widuran Bertram,

Actually scientists have discovered a hole in the Ozone layer over the UK.
The focus of this hole is above Hertfordshire, specifically Letchworth.

Do you know any sources of excess production of hot air in Letchworth?

Exactly.......

Just because YOU didn't feel safe going faster than 45mph doesn't mean that it WASN'T safe.

You have the right to drive at a speed you feel comfortable with (within legal limits) just as I, have the right to overtake you if I can do so safely and legally.

Did the Suzuki driver have an accident?. I suspect not. More a case of you thought 45 was the max safe so therefore anyone daring to question your judgement is an idiot.

I think we have a PM with the same, I am right and you are stupid, if you dont believe me attitude.

Just a moan? How much is your local authority spending on cleaning up the mess? Gangs out all night last night, today and this weekend, Our village is cut off from Gas 'cause of tree roots breaking the mains - they are giving out electric hobs to the entire village. The high road across the peaks is littered with overturned lorries - the costs mount up, and that's without even mentioning the deaths. Problem is that as the climate changes we become less able to deal with it (falls outside our experience). 2003 heatwave 2000 people died in this country. 40C in a summer soon is on the way, are we ready? - I think not! Wandering from the main point, if I may, why are so many on this HYS obsessed with Left/Right wing. Surely, in this day an age people are not so hidebound by archaic ideologies.

For example, I am against EU membership and mass immigration - to some this make me right wing - perhaps even fascist.

But then I am in favour of banning all private education and doubling the inheritance tax on everthing except the first home. This of course make me a socialist or even a damned commie.

If this is not another sign of global warming, I do not know what it is. Furthemore, the weather seems to be more extreme with more casualities than it used to be.
[1Nouri]

Yes and the summers aren't so sunny either..and mars bars are so much smaller..and we used to leave our front door open..and kids used to be safe playing on the street..and cheese was so much tastier..and politicians were honest..and we used to look forward to getting a clip round the ear from the local bobby..and monkey nuts cost thruppence a quarter.
Things change. Chaotic systems like the weather and global temperatures change constantly.
Do not buy-in to this psuedo-scientific fear-based tax opportunity.

This is because Eco's refuse to accept, or even listen, to any of our arguments and it is becoming a national obsession by beardies and liberals.

This is not the time and place for an argument however, people have died because of the weather.

Darren Drummond, Whitburn, United Kingdom

I just get really frustrated because I cannot see any reason why any decent human being would want to trash the planet. At least the "beardies" (I don't have a beard) want to look after the place. Why would you want to do any different? I honestly don't get it.

Don't **** on your own doorstep.

I am horrified, as I was in London going to protest at number 10 due to the war, and I caught a glimpse of the most horrific site - Cherie Blair was walking along and her skirt caught the wind. The site made me throw up the entire contents of my stomach and I am now contemplating having my eyes removed to help destroy this vision, I cant get out of my head.

With regards global warming I do believe this is a factor to the extreme weather with the ever increasing hole in the Ozone Layer
leftwing lefty,

Can you elucidate any chain of cause and effect to demonstrate the proof of this statement - or is this just another "It's Friday, it must be AGW!" type opinion!

Next Door's garage was smashed to pieces by the wind!
Another pointer towards the fact than our behaviour as a species is having an impact on our climate.
Watt Tyler

That's fair enough.
Broken garage door = Man Made Global Warming!

Totally obvious to me.

Well, it's as logical and scientific as Mann et al and their ruddy hockey stick!

Clever question that. If they are then they can't let you know because they don't have power. Unless someone has invented a wind powered computer.

Dan Dover:

My point exactly, although I am obviously a MMCC-sceptic.

The BBC really do need to start providing proof of MMCC (as they most obviously support such a concept) and not just go on and on about it at every opportunity and blame every single weather event on it.

I remember when Solar Flares were blamed for freakish weather - nowadays it's MMCC.

Think about the 'boy who cried wolf' before ramming more MMCC-related garbage down our throats mister BBC....

I don't know what your trying to achieve with that comment, Jamie - making people sound more insensitive than they actually are. But I'm sure it makes you feel better so I'll let you have your moment.

I am a global warming skeptic but perhaps I am wrong.

Nothing will convince me that it is man made however.

Darren Drummond, Whitburn, United Kingdom

I think this says it all about global warming skeptics. Even in the face of the wealth of evidence you still say "nothing will convince me".

A walk through the supermarket the other made me realise that if people will treat their own bodies like crap, what chance do they have a planet? It's pathetic really.

In all of this I think we've overlooked one disturbing possibility for this weather. Namely that some kind of supervillain has constructed some kind of giant weather control machine. Possibly from his secret lair. He's probably already contacted our government demanding money and been told that they already spent it on expenses at Westminster.

Whereas those who refuse to believe mankind impacts climate will be driving badly, reading "lads" magazines, desperately attempting to pull women, then lying about afterwards and at the end of a pointless day they will be sitting in the pub droning on about "political correctness gorn mad"

Give it a couple of days before saying that eh....and I am sure that come 2012 when the earth enters another cooling cycle (according to the Russians) there will eventually be more snow down south than you can shake a stick at....it all moves round in cycles see....not to mention that some say MMCC/AGW will lead to COLDER winters in the UK (wish they'd make their minds up!).

While at home last night i suffered sever wind damage to the interior of my lounge. The actual physical events included damage to the curtians, the pictures on the wall & ornamants on the mantlepiece. Which all moved backwards & forwards across the room as if i was on a rolling ship.
I eventually traced the route of the cause to a tin of heinz beans i had consumed earlier in the evening along with a donna kebab & two cans of cans of newcastle brown. The met office web site said they were unable to off any advice.
This morning the barometric pressure in the house appears to have returned to normal thank goodness.

Surely someone can find a way to lay this at the feet of Blair/Brown. It wouldn't feel like a proper HYS unless we get at least a few spurious claims that it is their fault.

What about immigrants, can we blame them for the storms. Or PC dogooders. It must be someones fault that we can all rant about.

Please remember that we must try and blame someone for everything, its especially important to find someone less fortunate in life to blame and hate in general for all our ills.

Perhaps its the Muslims fault, maybe they have prayed for a climatic jihad against Britain.

Please try harder so we can get in our daily hate.
