Are you affected by the banks' pay delay?

307 published comments with 77 censored.

Up to 400,000 people will not be paid today because there is a problem with the banking system.

The banks’ automated system for financial transactions has been running slowly so not all payments have been sent out in time.

The industry association, Apacs, says if you don’t get your pay today, it should go through by Monday.

What’s your reaction? Have you been affected by a delayed payment? Are you worried about your direct debit payments? Send us your comments

"Right. It's now 12:45 on a Friday afternoon and I'm on HYS.
I'm predicting that by 2pm we'd have had at least one "Let's blame the immigrants" comment on here."

Yep, and it was an even shorter amount of time before the Left wing pre-emptive strike on the right. Well done!

Thanks Peter that info is very useful. Iran are being a tad dodgy but Like Widuram says if it was the Iranians on UKs border I would hope we would do the same thing and capture them and interrogate them as terror suspects. I also agree about them being shown on T.V. I think it is a very good thing they are shown on TV but why are the soldiers apologizing? Are they being tortured? They look pretty well to me. The apology looks like a real one. The soldeirs will be returned with no violence.

[therightiswrong] "I have a question. Some people are claming Iran have changed the coordinates of where they captured our troops. Where do they get this info from?"

The BBC reported it 2 days ago. We produced our data showing our guys 1.3 miles inside Iraqi waters. The iranians then said we were lying an were actually at point X. When it was pointed out that point X was still 0.5 mi in iraqi waters they produced a 2nd location just inside their zone.

Let us talk about Iran like Peter Sym and co say in a non modded thread and stuff the BBC.

I do think the Iran situation doesn't look good but I am sure our army would have acted the same if Iranian boats were off our border. We would have interrogated them as terror suspects. I also think the fact that the soldiers are on TV is a good thing as at least we can all see they are safe and well treated unlike the terror suspects. I also think that we will get our soldiers back no probs!

I'd rather have that than some nameless moderator deciding what get's published and what doesn't. It is nigh impossible to respond to someone's opinion without it being pre-censored just because it doesn't meet some undeclared pre-conceived criteria.

"That's why full moderation is so unfair, i've been asking for 'reactive moderation' on all hys for ages now!"

A self moderating system as they have on slashdot dot org would be a better idea.

My understanding is the banks have said that they will honour all direct debits and waive overdraft charges for those affected. They also advised people to use stores' cashback facilities. So all in all just a technical glitch and a storm in a teacup.

Am I affected?

I dont know. I cant get through to my banks call centre in India. However, even if I did, I am not sure they would understand what my query was, due to my heavy English accent.
