Is Tesco taking over the high street?

691 published comments with 46 censored.

The UK’s biggest retailer has announced record full-year profits of £2.55bn – a figure that equates to nearly £5,000 a minute.

Critics say that Tesco, who has a 31% market share, ruins high street diversity and forces independent shops out of business.

Kevin Hawkins, head of the British Retail Consortium, said that supermarkets simply give shoppers “lower prices, better value and more choice."

What do you think of the retailer’s profits? Should it be praised for its success? Is Tesco a damaging influence or is it giving people what they want? Has your community been affected by a big supermarket?

Could it have escaped her notice that until November last year Lord Sainsbury was a member of that very same Labour government. Should that have been allowed???

Behind the scenes Tesco batters it's suippliers into oblivion so that smug little share-holders can pat their back pocket.

Is the BBC taking over broadcasting?
The UK’s biggest broadcaster has announced record spending that equates to nearly £150 per person, whether you watch it or not.

Critics say that the BBC, takes lots of money from people but gives very little in return.

Some bod from the BBC said, "The BBC is excellent. It charges its customers exactly what they want to pay and gives them propaganda in return."
