I took a day off today so I don't get soaked at the Bus Stop again.
As a Cigarettes and Cannabis smoker and only a light drinker I have a nice relaxing day planned of smoking puff, drinking WKD, and looking out of my top floor (5th should be high enough!!) window on all the unfortunates getting soaked walking or stuck in cars when the local Tube Bridge's underpass will fill up (if we get 50 mm) and all hell will break loose on the roads as gridlock occurs !!

We, in the West Highlands of Scotland have had 4 days of glorious sun. Very unusual for us I know. In fact it's been a pretty good summer on the whole, about time too for someone else to get the rain for a change. Gives us a chance to dry out before the rains return once more to us.

2) Stop feeling sorry for people affected by the flood: they will either be insured, in which case everything is fine (only wimps worry about the emotional difficulties, or lost pets etc), or they will not have insurance, in which case it is their own fault.

Ref the comments that glibly state "it's OK if you're insured" doesn't begin to cover it. Yes, you may get compensated - eventually. In the meantime, you have to salvage what you can of your stuff, much of which is contaminated by raw sewage & so if porous, insurers won't allow you to keep it. Then you have to dry your house & possessions out. It takes weeks & the stench is indescribable. Members of my family have been through it before & they don't live in the currently affected areas either.

We did a lot of naval gazing, we ruled the waves remember? We had iron fist colonialism and lots and lots of aid, many of the colonies couldn't have survived without it. Part of the reason for imperial withdrawal was cost. Aid is actually about saving lives, some of it is misdirected and ends up in the wrong pockets. I agree we should scrap CAP and have free trade.

As for breathing: this is part of the normal carbon cycle. Every atom of carbon we all exhale was taken from the atmosphere and entered the food chain in the very recent past.

I've seen very few denials of GW. The dispute is about the degree to which Man's CO2 output influences it.
The IPCC's own estimates have dropped from a 4.5 - 6.0C increase by 2050 to a 0.8 - 3.5C increase by 2100. The latest papers look set to reduce the estimates again.
It is nowhere near conclusive yet, but politics and media mania holds sway.

As I pay an inordinate amount of tax here in the UK, do you not think that fact actually gives me some right to voice an opinion on how it is spent?
I truly believe that "leftist neo colonialism" is as bad as the old type - we should help our own only.
Giving £6,612,000,000 a year for Africa whilst our own suffer & our country falls apart is quite obscene.
