What are the most disappointing tourist spots?

And what are the hidden gems of the world?

Stonehenge, Times Square, the Pyramids and the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain are among the most disappointing tourist spots, according to a survey of over 1,000 Britons.

The report, commissioned by Virgin Travel Insurance, found that many of the world's most iconic attractions often led to a sense of anticlimax when seen in real life, spoilt by crowds and hawkers.

The Eiffel Tower topped the list of disappointing spots abroad, followed by the Louvre and Times Square. Stonehenge, the Angel of the North and the Blackpool Tower were named the most disappointing in the UK.

Do famous attractions often disappoint when you get to see them? What would be your alternative list of top attractions? Do you agree with these findings?

To put some perspective on things go to the Irish Republic and see what they have to brag about. We all hear about how beautiful it is but in reality it's a mess. They live in a drunken haze where they still imagine they are great Celt warriors whilst the country falls around about them.

The biggest attraction in Arklow is the MacDonalds and the biggest attraction in Gorey is Tesco!

Compared with Ireland this land is a positive cornucopia of fun!

Roger the Cat is clearly a very narrow minded individual - the areas surrounding Gorey and Arklow are absolutely stunning - and his comments about the Irish are down right offensive and abusive[scoggi]

Having recently endured 3 hrs of the loudmouthed and boorish behaviour of Irish drunks on the Holyhead ferry, where they thought it acceptable to abuse the ship's crew and other passengers I have to laugh at this comment.

On the plus side, maybe if we just keep being as rude as we can, the foreigners and tourists won't come here! Australians and the Poles won't serve in the pubs and the immigrants will go to another town. Yes, yes! Calling all Londoners, be very rude, give wrong directions. Refuse to speak slowly and just shrug and walk away if someone is obviously struggling with English!

Reason, so they so, "insufficient evidence". Rubbish, a whole courtroom of people surely can see not only justice but jstice being done! You have a bustling City World in New York.
Enjoy Hicksville, where cousins marry down in Alabama.
Have a great time in Bible Belt, where science disappears to be replaced with mythology.
Of course there is the Death Zone that is East LA, very dangerous, but close to Pacific LA and Hollywood,( now THAT IS a Theme Park).

However the food is huge, and I recommend Denny's Diners!
