Are you affected by increased fuel costs?

Duty on petrol and diesel has risen by 2p today in the first of three fuel tax rises planned for the next 18 months. How will the increase affect you?

The increase could push up the average price of unleaded petrol to about 98p, while diesel could exceed £1 if the cost is passed on to motorists.

The rise in duty was first announced in Gordon Brown's 2007 Budget when he was chancellor, and has been defended by the government saying it sends out the right environmental messages.

But the Petrol Retailer's Association are warning it could put some filling stations out of business.

Is this move good for the environment? Do you run a petrol station? How will this increase affect your business? How will this price rise affect you as a motorist? How much are you paying for petrol?

Ahhh... HYS early thread leapfrog. It is a fine old tradition....

Bang a 'crowd pleaser' into the queue before the board opens, then when the first posts are published it's the starting gun of a race... push your post to the top with the old 'self-multi-vote' scam. But wait! Your post has been leapfrogged! Go on, give it a couple more votes, put it back at the top.

It's like poker... I'll see your 6 votes and raise you to 9.

But the big question is... who has the biggest store of votes?

Why must posters/voters be so continuously rude and offensive? It's like being back in the school playground. Please try to respect other people's opinions and please try to post positive suggestions sometimes, not just aggressive moaning and abuse.

He won't lose!

Brown knows he has the votes of those within the benefit culture and the bloated public sector in the bag, thus guaranteeing his re-election whatever time he calls an election.

Totally Disgruntled, Wokingham

Fantasy politics again. There are less public sector workers now than ten years ago, more people in work and less on benefits. The reason Brown won't lose is that people trust him more than Chameleon Dave who is now desperately trying to retain his hard right base.

The reason why so many Asians live in your city is because the racist whites who used to live there moved out when they saw a few brown faces next door when they moved in. It is the white peoples fault that some of our cities are the way they are. They should have supported their city and stayed and lived in harmony with the other cultures.

I'm fascinated that my username has sparked so much debate.

It isn't intended to be racist - merely an observation of my surroundings, based on fact.

I changed it to that after last week when India beat Pakistan in the World 20-20 cricket cup.

Indians began spontaneously dancing in the streets, forcing police to close roads and causing commuters to be over an hour late home.

If we'd tried that when England won The Ashes, we'd merely be arrested for causing an obstruction.

The comments about certain towns having too many Asians (or whatever) is a very interesting comment. It seems that the white people who used to love in these areas saw a lot of coloured faces moving into these areas and then they moved out. It seems that these towns are the products of certain white peoples racism. The irony is that these same racists are now complaining that these towns only have ethnic minorities. It is the whites who moved out and caused this divide. Pathetic.
