"I was joking and I said I know why you're at my house all the time, you're running from the police because you've kidnapped Becky," she told the jury. Ms Donovan told the jury she found out her estranged daughter knew Becky and joked she was visiting a lot because she "kidnapped her" and was on the run.

'Shocked' by contact Mr Matthews has admitted her manslaughter insisting Miss Hoare had no part in it, the trial has heard.
Bristol Crown Court was told the accused couple made an unexpected visit to Miss Hoare's mother's home on the day the police were trying to make contact to interview them and search their Cotton Mill Lane property in the city. Her mother's partner, Kevin Stone, told Bristol Crown Court he was "shocked" to get a phone call from Miss Hoare as there had been had been no contact between them for some years.
Kevin Stone, the partner of Ms Donovan, said he was "shocked" by the contact as they had not seen Miss Hoare for some years. The couple visited several times that week, often staying late, before being arrested on suspicion of kidnap at the address on 28 February.
Giving evidence, he also recalled a "strange" conversation with Mr Matthews who "said if anyone rings up for me, then can you tell them we are going out for a meal?" 'Bathroom clean'
Becky vanished in February. She was killed and her body dismembered with the body parts discovered in a garden shed at 9 Barton Court, Bristol, several days later. During that time they gave little explanation about why they were there.
The trial previously heard Mr Matthews, of Hazelbury Drive in Warmley, South Gloucestershire, had admitted killing her, after trying to kidnap her, as well as storing her body parts at another address. Meanwhile, the police wanted to interview them and search their home on Cotton Mill Lane, Bristol, the trial heard.
He has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, preventing the lawful burial of a corpse and possessing a prohibited weapon, but denies conspiracy to kidnap. When two police detectives did gain entry, the property was found to be "extremely cluttered" with "all manner of items and stuff piled around" and a smell of cat faeces, the jury was told.
Miss Hoare, of Cotton Mill Lane in Bristol, is charged with conspiracy to kidnap, perverting the course of justice, preventing the lawful burial of a corpse and possessing a prohibited weapon. She denies all counts. Detective Constable Simon Wallis said he noticed the bathroom window was open and it "was cleaner than the rest of the house".
"The actual bath itself was clear. There was nothing on it or on the sides at all," he said.
The Bristol Crown Court trial previously heard Mr Matthews, of Hazelbury Drive in Warmley, South Gloucestershire, admitted killing her after trying to kidnap her, as well as storing her body parts in a garden shed at 9 Barton Court, Bristol.
He told police he dismembered the body with a circular power saw and wrapped the various parts in plastic bags.

Two others - Donovan Demetrius, 29, of Marsh Lane, Redfield, Bristol, and James Ireland, 23, of Richmond Villas, Avonmouth - have been accused of helping move the dismembered remains of Becky, which they deny. Giving evidence, Nathan Bignell - a colleague of Mr Demetrius' brother Karl, 29, and Mr Ireland - told the jury the pair carried out a "job" on the night Becky's body was allegedly moved. Giving evidence on Friday, a colleague of Donovan's brother, Karl Demetrius, 29, and Mr Ireland told the jury he heard the pair organising a "job" on the night Becky's body was moved, "collecting or delivering something" which they would "get paid well" for doing.
"The job was collecting or delivering something and they would get paid well for doing it," Mr Bignell said. It is alleged the pair used a work van to move Becky's body parts from the home of Mr Matthews and Miss Hoare to the address where Karl Demetrius lived with his girlfriend, Jaydene Parsons.
During their night shift, he noticed a white work van was missing and two to three hours later the pair returned to work, the jury heard. Both Karl Demetrius and Miss Parsons, 23, have pleaded guilty to assisting an offender but say they were not aware of what was stored in the shed.
It is alleged during this time, in the early hours of 24 February, the pair used the van to collect Becky's body parts from Cotton Mill Lane, Barton Hill, and move them to the home of Karl and his partner, Jaydene Parsons.
Karl Demetrius and Parsons, 23, both of Barton Court, Bristol, previously pleaded guilty to assisting an offender but both said they were unaware of what was stashed in their shed.
