A PNC bank was robbed Thursday morning in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Northwest Washington, according to D.C. police.

The robbery occurred about 9:30 a.m. at the branch in the 1700 block of Columbia Road NW. Police would not immediately say if a weapon was involved.

Andrew Ames, an FBI spokesman, said the robber left a package inside the bank that police explosives technicians examined. He said police determined the package was not a bomb.

Police had closed streets in the area but reopened all of them by 12:15 p.m.

Authorities were looking for a tall black male wearing a brown jacket, plaid shirt and skull cap.
