A man has been arrested after a "substantial" number of firearms were found at a bungalow near Norwich.

Police have been searching the property on Holmesdale Road, Brundall, since the discovery was made on Monday.

Neighbours described seeing forensic teams digging in the back garden, with tents erected at the front and back of the bungalow.

Eleven police vehicles were on site on Wednesday. A man in his 60s has been bailed until July.

Police said they would continue their searches on Thursday.

Officers have closed the road during their investigation and said it would reopen temporarily overnight on Wednesday.

Det Ch Insp Andy Coller said: "The investigation is ongoing and a further day of searches will take place tomorrow in order for us to complete our enquiries at the address.

"We cannot confirm the number or types of firearms that have been seized until this process is complete.

"We would like to thank local residents for their patience and I would like to reassure the public that they are not at any risk."

People living nearby told the BBC they were asked to keep doors and windows shut while searches were carried out.

One resident, who did not want to be named, described the bungalow as being occupied by an "ordinary couple" in their 60s.
