Two people have been arrested and charged with terrorist offences, Scotland Yard has said. Two men have been arrested at Heathrow airport, accused of planning terrorist attacks abroad.
Mohammed Abushamma, 20, from Islington, and Qasim Abukar, 20, from Tufnell Park, both north London, were charged with the preparation of terrorism. Mohammed Abushamma, 20, from Islington, and Qasim Abukar, 20, from Tufnell Park, both north London, were held by police on Tuesday.
The men will appear before City of Westminster magistrates on Wednesday. They are due before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, charged with the preparation of terrorism between 17 March and 18 April this year.
The charges state that the men were "engaged in conduct in preparation for giving effect to their intention of committing acts of terrorism". The charge was brought under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
