The first result EU referendum result declared in the west of England has seen voters in Swindon vote to leave the European Union. The first EU referendum results declared in the West of England have seen a split between both camps.
The vote saw 61,745 people vote to leave, while 51,220 voted to remain. Turnout was 76%. Voters in Swindon backed leaving the European Union, while those in Stroud voted to remain.

In Stroud 55% voted to remain, with 40,446 votes to 33,618. Turnout was 80%.
Meanwhile 58% of voters in Gloucester voted to leave, by 37,776 votes to 26,801, with a 72% turnout.
In the Forest of Dean 59% voted to leave, by 30,251 votes to 21,392 and turnout was 77%.
