Broxbourne in Hertfordshire votes to leave the EU Leave vote takes overwhelming lead in east of England EU Referendum vote

The first referendum result in the east of England has seen voters opt to leave the EU. The leave vote is pulling away into an early lead in amongst EU Referendum voters in the east of England.
Nearly twice as many people in the Broxbourne area of Hertfordshire voted to leave as those who wanted to remain in the union. Basildon voted overwhelmingly in favour of leaving. With a 75% turnout, 67,251 voted leave compared with 30,748 for remain.
With a 73.8% turnout, 17,166 voted to remain compared with 33,706 voting to leave. In the Broxbourne area of Hertfordshire, twice as many people voted to leave as those who wanted to remain in the union.
It was the eighth count nationwide to be completed nationally. There are 47 across the region. Brentwood, Southend and Rochford have also voted in favour of leaving.
A full picture is not expected to emerge for two or three hours as counting continues.
