Two men who "executed" their friend before burying his body in woodland have been jailed for life.

Remzi Akguc and Yilmaz Coskun shot dead father-of-two Hidir Aksakal, also known as Boxer Cetin, following a row over a woman, the Old Bailey heard.

The men buried the 47-year-old's body in a boggy area of Epping Forest, north London, in August last year.

They both denied murder but were found guilty after trial. Each were jailed for a minimum of 32 years.

The court heard the victim was shot four times at a house in Tottenham, including a final bullet fired while the gun was held inside his mouth.

Judge Richard Marks QC said: "This was an execution in which the undoubted intention was to kill Mr Aksakal."

Jurors were told there had been an argument between Mr Aksakal and Coskun over the latter's pregnant girlfriend.

The judge said it was unclear who was holding the gun but ruled the killing was a joint enterprise offence.

He said both Coskun, 36, of no fixed abode, and 41-year-old Akguc covered up the crime and were part of a massive clean-up operation of the murder scene.

Akguc, of Margery Street, west London, was seen on CCTV buying a shovel, tarpaulin, rope, trolley and gloves after the shooting.

The gun, stained with the victim's blood, was found stashed in a sock in the garden of Coskun's home.

Mr Aksakal's body was taken to the forest in Coskun's car and buried, the court heard.

A walker came across a "foul-smelling sack" containing his remains three weeks later near Hollow Ponds. A shovel was discovered nearby.

Det Ch Insp Jamie Piscopo, from the Met, said: "Hidir Aksakal's murder was a cold-blooded execution with the defendants then going to great lengths to dispose of his body."
