A Qatar Airways aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport on Thursday after one of its engines caught fire shortly after takeoff, the broadcaster CNN Turk reported. A Qatar Airways aircraft has made an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport after its landing gear failed to retract on take-off.
The Airbus 330 had been heading to Doha. There were no immediate reports of any casualties. An airport official could not confirm a report by broadcaster CNN Turk that one of the plane’s engines had caught fire.
The aircraft, an Airbus 330 bound for Doha, landed safely and passengers disembarked as normal, Qatar Airways said.
