A memorial mass has been held at the former school of a boy who died when a double-decker bus crashed into a supermarket in Coventry. Rowan Fitzgerald, who was seven, died on the top deck of the bus along with pedestrian Dora Hancox, when it crashed on Trinity Street on 3 October 2015. Jayne Mcsharry, head teacher of St Anthony's Catholic Primary School, said both victims were remembered. She said the community has been very supportive since the crash. "The community has been fantastic," she said. Coventry City Football Club will also remember Rowan in their programme ahead of Tuesday's game against Northampton Town. Rowan, from Leamington, was on the top deck of the bus with his eight-year-old cousin, who was taken to hospital after the crash. Mrs Hancox, from Nuneaton, a lollipop lady, was described as a mother who dedicated her life to caring for others. The bus driver, Kailash Chander, 77, a former mayor of Leamington Spa, was injured in the accident. |
