http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-37766160 Version 0 of 1. Scotland has 15 airports - six main centres and a further nine dotted around the Highlands. All but one is in favour of a third runway at Heathrow Airport. For Heathrow expansion Ahead of the UK government's decision on airport expansion, the managing directors of Aberdeen and Glasgow said they would back the Heathrow plan because it was the "right choice for the whole of the UK". The Scottish government also backed a third runway for Heathrow, saying it could lead to a 16,000 jobs boost. At the beginning of this month ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Heathrow Airport bosses. Against Heathrow expansion Ahead of the Heathrow decision, the Edinburgh Airport operators said they believed Gatwick "offered the better deal for Scotland" and described the Heathrow plan as "undeliverable" and potentially "bad for passengers". |
