Man dies after being hit by car

Police have appealed to the public for help in identifying a man who died after being hit by a car on the A80 in North Lanarkshire.

He had been crossing the carriageway near the Auchinkilns interchange at about 2350 BST on Saturday when the incident happened.

Strathclyde Police said they have not yet identified the man.

He has been described as 5ft 8in tall and in his early 20s. He was wearing a red stone earring in his left ear.
