Three members of staff have been left badly shaken after an armed and masked gang fired a shot during robbery at a post office in Londonderry. A pensioner who was in a post office in Londonderry's Rosemount area which was robbed by armed men on Wednesday has described the moment one opened fire.
Three men entered the premises in Park Avenue in Rosemount on Wednesday afternoon and demanded money. Michael Brennan was drawing his pension in the Park Avenue premises when the gunmen burst in and pushed him aside.
A shot was fired before the gang escaped in a white van, which was found burnt out a short time later. "When they didn't open the main security door in a fit of anger one of them just let go with the shotgun and peppered the door with shot," he said.
No-one was injured but three members of staff were left badly shaken.
