There has been a campaign by local people to reduce the speed limit there from 70mph (113km/h) to 50mph (80km/h), which is the limit on other sections of the road.
One resident, Wendy Coggan, said: "Whether it would have happened or not, if there (was) a lower limit in place, I don't know.
"But I really do hope this does help our campaign to get the speed limit reduced."
