A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 10-year-old boy was stabbed in the street while out with his mother. A father has said his 10-year-old son is "very lucky" to survive being stabbed in the neck.

Police said the stabbing was linked to two other attacks in the same area just days beforehand. She thought her son was "joking" until she saw blood on his T-shirt.

Kalpesh Mistry, who was in India at the time of the attack, told BBC Radio Leicester: "My wife was reversing the car and he was looking out for the space and some random person just attacked my child.
"He held his shoulder and attacked with a weapon to try and cut his neck.
"My son ran to my wife saying, 'I'm being stabbed', it was a very horrific situation."
His wife told him she didn't realise what happened because it was so sudden.
"She thought he might be joking but then she saw his T-shirt was full with blood," he said.
She got out of the car and tried to stop the bleeding while their other son began knocking on doors, asking for someone to call an ambulance and the police.
Mr Mistry's son has now been discharged from hospital.
"He had stitches and he's better than before," he said. "My son is just lucky."
Police investigating the attack released a CCTV image of a man on Monday. They later arrested a man from Leicester.
They are linking what happened to two other attacks in the area during the past week.
