MP will check council tax claim

A north Wales MP is one of more than 50 MPs who the Daily Telegraph say have claimed expenses for council tax they have not paid.

Government whip Mark Tami, MP for Alyn and Deeside, Flintshire, was said to have profited by about £1,500.

Mr Tami said he would look into whether he had over-claimed and if he had, would pay the money back.

On Friday it emerged that a third of Welsh MPs had repaid some of their expenses.

Responding to the claims in the Daily Telegraph, Mr Tami said: "I am going to look into whether I have over-claimed and if I have then clearly I will pay back any over-claim."
