Offenders offered 'hotel break'

Offenders will get a holiday from hell at the Drunk and Disorderly Inn, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. The "hotel", usually known as a custody cell, has wipe clean mattresses and en-suite steel toilets. "It is not a great place to end your night out, and apart from anything else the food is shocking," said Assistant Chief Constable Terry Sweeney. 'Arresting offer' "We are trying to tell people not to get into a drunken situation where they will cause a disturbance or worse, because they will end up staying the night here with us at the Drunk and Disorderly Inn," he said. Police will be on the streets handing out potential guests brochures promising an "unforgettable experience". The leaflet says, "Take advantage of our special offers. Get detained on Saturday and stay with us until you go to court on Monday. An arresting offer you won't be allowed to refuse!". Each of Greater Manchester Police's 12 divisions have their own version of the brochure featuring a photo of their divisional headquarters on the cover. |
