Facebook boasting burglar jailed

A prolific burglar who taunted detectives on Facebook that he could not be caught has been jailed for three and a half years. Roy Boodle, 28, used his mobile phone to update his Facebook page while on the run for more than 18 months from Greater Manchester Police (GMP). He was arrested after being recognised on a Most Wanted website, police said. He admitted three counts of burglary and one of handling stolen goods at an earlier hearing at Bolton Crown Court. Boodle, of no fixed address, also asked for 10 other matters, including eight burglaries, to be taken into consideration. One of those matters was the theft of a domestic violence charity collection box from the front counter at Bury police station, which contained £12. Det Insp John Mazzolai said: "Make no mistake, Boodle is one of Manchester's most notorious criminals and he has been a top target for the Bury division for some time. "To have him finally behind bars, where he can cause no menace to innocent members of our communities, is great news. "I wonder if he is regretting his arrogant boasts about being able to evade police capture, now he is staring at his cell's four walls." He urged residents of Greater Manchester to continue to report anyone they see on the force's Most Wanted website. |
