Version 0 of 1.

Police investigating the theft of two trailers carrying Grant's whisky worth £250,000 have narrowed down the time of the raid from a south of Scotland yard.

CCTV footage indicates it occurred at the Currie Group site at Heathhall at about midnight on Wednesday.

Two tractor units - one a white Scania and the other a blue Daf - were later seen towing two Currie trailers north on the A701 towards Moffat.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the vehicles to contact them.

Sightings of the two tractor units earlier in the evening, perhaps travelling south or parked up in a lay-by, have also been requested.

Police believe the two units may have been accompanied by a car.

Well planned

Det Insp Graham Kerr said police were keen to track the movements of the two tractor units.

"We are continuing to examine CCTV footage from the yard to see if any further details of those involved can be obtained," he said.

"It seems that a good deal of planning went into this theft and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in or around the yard in the days prior to the theft is asked to contact us.

"No piece of information should be considered too small in a crime like this, it may well be that it fits into the jigsaw that we are trying to piece together."
