A man has been arrested for walking through the streets of Swindon carrying an axe. A 44-year-old man has been charged after he was arrested for walking through the streets of Swindon carrying an axe.

They carried out a search and found a 44-year-old man in an intoxicated state at the town's bus station. John Paul Hunter, of Eastleaze, Swindon, is charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting a police officer.
The force spokesman said the man was disarmed and arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. Mr Hunter is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates' Court on 3 June.
He was taken to Gablecross police station. He was released on bail until then.
