Forecasters have warned Scottish roads are likely to be icy on Sunday after a night of cold temperatures. Motorists in Scotland have been warned to beware of icy roads after a night of sub-zero temperatures.
The warning came as motorists were urged to take extra care as snow flurries hit parts of Scotland. The Met Office has issued amber "be prepared" warnings of ice for Grampian, Strathclyde, Tayside, Central, Fife, Lothian and Borders and the south-west.
Snow fell on higher ground in the Highlands and southern uplands, while 5cm (2in) was recorded at Eskdalemuir in Dumfries and Galloway. It warned of "widespread icy patches" across those regions.
Snow affected the A7 north of Langholm and the M74 but police said all roads were passable with care. A yellow "be aware" warning has been issued for the Highlands and Western Isles. The weather is expected to improve throughout the day.
An amber weather warning was issued across much of Scotland on Saturday as snow swept in during the day.
The Met Office's "be prepared" warning was for issued for south west Scotland, Lothian and Borders, Central, Tayside and Fife, as well as the Grampian region.

A horse racing meeting at Musselburgh has been abandoned due to parts of the track being frozen.
Clerk of the course Harriet Graham said: "We were tantalisingly close, but we've still got frozen places and have abandoned.
"Unfortunately it got to minus 1C overnight and we are not due to get warmer temperatures until midday.
"It is really frustrating."
