The head teacher at an Anglesey school has been sacked after almost 15 months suspended on full pay. A head teacher has been sacked after almost 15 months after she was suspended following a walkout by staff who said they could not work with her.

She had been suspended after five of the six teachers at the school walked out in May last year saying they could no longer work with her. In August 2010, five out of the six teachers made a complaint about Mrs Hughes to the school's governors.
Between September 2011 and last month it cost Anglesey taxpayers £82,768 for stand-in head-teachers. They upheld the complaint and devised an action plan but staff were unhappy and passed a no confidence vote.
The cost excludes Mrs Hughes's salary and pension contribution.
Child protection board
She was in charge until July 2011, and was being investigated by the local child protection board in relation to her work there.

In a statement the council confirmed that "Mrs Ann J Hughes' employment as head teacher at Ysgol Goronwy Owen, Benllech, has been terminated".
