Humberside Police Chief Constable Tim Hollis said: "Paul's death is a sad loss to his family and friends and our thoughts are with them at this time. His family - partner Christine, mother Beryl, brothers Tony and Derek and sister Teresa - issued a joint statement:
"He was a very experienced officer who was well liked and well respected by his colleagues. He will be missed. "Paul died diving, a sport he loved, in Ireland, a place he loved.
"Paul died taking part in a sport which he loved, diving. He was an experienced sports diver and we will naturally have to wait to discover the precise circumstances surrounding the dive which had such a tragic end. "We would like to pass on our immense thanks and gratitude to all of the emergency services and volunteers who helped to find him and ensure he could be laid to rest, and especially to those people that were his friends for all they did to bring him home.
"In the meantime, we will continue to provide all the support we can to the family." "Paul was a fun-loving man who loved life and loved his family, and he will be missed dearly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him."
Pc Jackson leaves a partner, mother and two brothers and a sister.
