Cinderella film 'loses director Mark Romanek'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20956347 Version 0 of 1. Director Mark Romanek has quit Disney's live-action version of Cinderella, according to reports. Disney said it had "parted ways" with the Never Let Me Go director and was now looking for a replacement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is attached to star in the film, although a lead star has yet to be cast. The script has been written by About a Boy director Chris Weitz, and The Devil Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna. Disney first announced the film in 2010 after the success of its live-action version of Alice in Wonderland, directed by Tim Burton. "We are committed to moving the project forward and have begun the search for a new director," Disney said. "The team here at Disney respects Mark as both a director and a friend, and we hope to find something to work on together in the future." It is not the first time Romanek has exited a film - he signed on to direct 2010 Benicio Del Toro film The Wolfman but pulled out and was replaced by eventual director, Joe Johnston. |
