A spokesman added that Mr Larsen had been refused bail.
A 40-year-old woman also arrested has been released on bail pending further inquiries, police added.
Residents in Lenten Pool had to leave their homes on Friday night and again on Saturday while police and an army bomb disposal unit searched a house.
They spent several hours in the town hall before returning home.
