Tributes in memory of the youngster are continuing to take place around the city, almost two weeks after he was murdered.
A special assembly to remember Rhys took place earlier at Fazakerly High School where he was due to start this week and on Wednesday his former primary school in Norris Green, Broad Square, will reopen and a special assembly be staged there too.
A plaque to the schoolboy will be erected in the new adventure playground which is almost completed and a tree will be planted in his memory as well.
On Saturday, the two boys who were with Rhys when he was shot will lead the England team out at Wembley in their European championship qualifier against Israel.
Rhys's family have asked those attending his funeral on Thursday to wear their team's football shirts or bright colours in memory of the youngster, who was a huge Everton fan.
