A man has been charged with rape after an 87-year-old woman was attacked in her home in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, early on Saturday. A 34-year-old man has appeared in court charged with raping an 87-year-old woman at her home.
Police said they were called to a house in the town just after 0300 BST after reports a woman had been assaulted. Martin Owen appeared before Llangefni magistrates charged with rape and two other sex offences in Caernarfon early on Saturday.
A 34-year-old man, who is said to be local to the area, has also been charged with two other sexually-related offences. He was remanded in custody until 27 October when he will appear before magistrates in Caernarfon.
He is due to appear in Llangefni magistrates court later. The elderly woman is in Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor where her condition is not known.
