Troedyrhiw deaths of Joanne and Harper Thomas 'not suspicious'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-23232681 Version 0 of 1. The deaths of a woman and her baby girl near Merthyr Tydfil are not being treated as suspicious, say police. The bodies of Joanne Thomas, 27, and four-month-old Harper were found at a house in the village of Troedyrhiw on Wednesday. Officers believe the mother and child had been dead "for some time". South Wales Police said they still wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen Ms Thomas in the weeks leading up to the discovery. The force said initial post mortem examinations to establish the cause of death had proved inconclusive and that officers were awaiting the results of further tests. But it added that there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A file of evidence is now being prepared for the coroner. Relatives described Ms Thomas as "a bubbly, sociable and kind hearted person". In a statement released through police last week, they said: "She was a loving and caring mother to her children. Joanne and baby Harper will be sorely missed by all her family and friends." Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room which has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station on 029 2052 7303, South Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
