That's what 43-year-old engineer Russell Byars managed on the Allegheny River, near Pittsburg, in the US. "Although I don't know anything about the conditions of this throw, my rough estimate suggests that he has to reach a speed of at least 80 km/h. My Byars concedes that his strong right arm - he used to be a construction worker - is a big part of his success. Apart from stretching exercises, he doesn't do any special training before an event. And he's adamant that his 51-skip record was not a one-off fluke.
