A man has been rescued after being found clinging onto a rope and screaming for help in the water at Holyhead port on Anglesey. A man has been rescued after being found clinging to a rope in the water at Holyhead port on Anglesey.
A member of the public raised the alarm after hearing the man and the Holyhead coastguard and RNLI inshore lifeboat were called to the scene. An RNLI member in bed at home raised the alarm at 04:30 GMT after hearing screams for help and a lifeboat and coastguard were called out.
The incident happened at around 04:30 GMT. The man, in his 20s and from Manchester, had unsuccessfully tried to climb the rope which was dangling over the quay.
He has been taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia, the emergency services confirmed. Rescuers said the man was "extremely lucky."
He was taken to hospital in Bangor with hypothermia.
