A 13-year-old free runner had to be rescued from the roof of a church by firefighters after injuring his knee.

The boy was taking part in the activity - in which participants climb buildings, run along rooftops and jump gaps - in Poole on Sunday afternoon.

He hurt his knee in the process of scaling the roof of the United Reformed Church in Skinner Street.

Fire crews used a ladder to assist the boy, who was not seriously hurt, back to the ground.

Free running, or Parkour, was started by a group of friends in France who wanted to prove their mental and physical strength.
