(35 minutes later)
Shots have been fired from Lebanon across the country's volatile border with Israel, officials from the two countries say. An Israeli soldier has been killed by shots fired from across the Lebanese border, the Israeli military has said.
They say the shooter is believed to be a Lebanese soldier - but this has not been officially confirmed. It said the shooter was a Lebanese army sniper. Up to seven shots were reportedly fired.
The Israeli military said the shots targeted a civilian vehicle near the border crossing at Rosh Hanikra. Israeli media said the incident happened near the border crossing at Rosh Hanikra, and the soldier's family had been told.
There is no word on any casualties. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say they are investigating the incident. The UN peacekeeping force in south Lebanon said it had been informed about a "serious incident".
There appears to have been no infiltration from Lebanon, the IDF adds. Unifil spokesman Andrea Tenenti said the shooting happened "on the Israeli side of the Blue Line", referring to a UN-drawn line demarcating the border between the two countries.
