A total of 11 boats are involved in the search. He told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland programme: "Due to the weather conditions being very favourable this morning, the search area is fairly small, fairly close inland."
Mr Leat said 11 vessels were involved in the search, including tugs, rig vessels, merchant vessels and fishing boats.
"They were all very quick to respond to the distress calls."
