An explosion in the early hours of Thursday morning targeted a state security building in northern Cairo, according to security sources. Security sources in Egypt say a state security building in northern Cairo was the target of a series of bombs in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The cause of the blast in the Shubra district on the outskirts of the city is unclear and there is no information on possible casualties. State media said six people were injured by three explosions in the northern Shubra district of the capital.
Emergency services have been despatched to the scene and helicopters are reported over the area. Residents across Cairo reported hearing and feeling a large blast just before 02:00 local time (00:00 GMT)
