Channel Tunnel arrest: Man accused of trying to walk to UK in court

Abdul Rahman Haroun is charged with causing an obstruction to an engine or carriage using the railway, under the Malicious Damage Act. The Sudanese national appeared at Canterbury Crown Court via video link from HMP Elmley, Kent, and spoke through an Arabic interpreter. He denied the offence and was remanded in custody until 4 January. It is alleged he was found inside the 31-mile-long tunnel near the Folkestone exit on 4 August. |
