http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34054629 Version 0 of 1. A former prison officer has been charged with misconduct in a public office as part of Operation Elveden. Amanda Watts, 43, of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday 7 September. Ms Watts had worked at HMP Highpoint, a Category C men's prison in Stradishall, Newmarket, Suffolk. Operation Elveden is the Met Police's investigation into journalists' dealings with public officials. The misconduct charge relates to the period between 16 September and 1 November 2010, police said. Senior Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Gregor McGill said: "We have decided that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that a prosecution is in the public interest." |
