Police are hunting a gunman who is on the run after shooting dead a television reporter and cameraman during a live broadcast in Virginia.
Police are searching for a man who opened fire early Wednesday morning at the Bridgewater Plaza near Smith Mountain Lake.
The shooting was captured by the crew and showed the reporter either recoiling as shots ring out as she is interviewing someone on air. Viewers watched in horror as the network then cut sharply to the bewildered anchor.

WDBJ7 network subsequently revealed to viewers said reporter Allison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were shot and killed in the course of a live broadcast.
She had been interviewing Vicki Gardner, local Chamber of Commerce head. She was shot the back and is currently in surgery.
