Yarra Trams is anticipating that delays will plague the system for most of the day.“Trams will start running back to the depots from 8.30am and they are due to run out again from 2pm,” a Yarra Trams spokesman said.
“We have eight depots around the city and expect to get back to usual service between 4pm and 5pm.”
VicRoads traffic management staff would manage traffic around depots as up to 400 trams made their way in and out before and after the strike, he said.
