The bodies of more than 70 refugees have now been found in the back of an abandoned lorry on an Austrian motorway. Three people have been arrested in Hungary after the decomposing bodies of 71 migrants were found in the back of an abandoned lorry in Austria.
Forensic investigators have worked through the night to remove the decomposing bodies and establish how many migrants had died. The bodies of 59 men, eight women and four children were found in the lorry, reports the BBC.
They are thought to have been dead for one-and-a-half to two days.
It is not yet clear how the migrants died and police said they were understood to include a group from Syria.
Local police have said the three people arrested, thought to be Bulgarian, have been detained in Hungary.
