ITV boss refuses to rule out possible revival of Cold Feet
Version 0 of 1. ITV has not ruled out the idea of Cold Feet returning to UK screens. Following reports that the former ITV hit series could be ripe for revival, director of television Peter Fincham did not dismiss it out of hand. He said: “As you know, at any one time there will be discussions about past glories. Sometimes they come to something, like Poldark … sometimes they won’t.” However, he pointed out that most of his shows are originals, such as the eagerly-awaited Jekyll and Hyde and thriller Unforgotten. Speaking at The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, Fincham returned to a theme from Wednesday – the scheduling clash between X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing. After he took the bold move of publishing all the start times of X Factor’s episodes in a bid to ensure the BBC would not schedule Strictly against them, Fincham denied that meant the BBC1 dancing show would have to air at 5pm. “It’s a game to them and a business to us, you might not think of that, until you think that it takes 1 million or 2 million off the audience of X Factor and that turns into income,” he pointed out. On the topic of talent shows, Fincham deftly dodged a question about whether or not he would like The Voice on his network. The prospect has been mooted since ITV took over The Voice creators Talpa Media in March. All Fincham would say was: “It’s on the BBC and contracted to the BBC.” Speaking afterwards, he said that no decision has yet been taken as to whether there will be another series of celebrity shepherding show Flockstars. Although its ratings have fallen, Fincham pointed out it has received a lot of coverage in the press. |
